With effect from 1 August 2007, High Commission of India has outsourced visa applications. Accordingly visa applications should be submitted at three Indian Visa Centres approved by the High Commission. [Please note that High Commission of India does not accept visa applications at its premises, except those requesting for grant of gratis visas on official and diplomatic passports.

  • Where to apply – With effect from 1 August 2007, High Commission of India has outsourced the collection of visa applications for all category of Visas except for the following

    (i) Gratis Visas on Diplomatic/official passports
    (ii) Gratis visas for the invitees from the Government of India/State Government bodies
    (iii) Issuing of visas on Emergency basis.

  • Accordingly, visa applications for all categories except those mentioned at (i),(ii)&(iii) above should be submitted at the below mentioned three Indian Visa Centres approved by the High Commission.  [Please note that the High Commission of India does not accept visa applications at its premises excepting those mentioned above]. Those requesting for grant of gratis visas on official and diplomatic passportsand on emergency basis, please apply at the High Commission of India at No.2 Jalan Taman Duta, off Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur-50480 from 9.30 am to 12 noon on all working days.

  • [Operating hours of the India Visa application Centres will be from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m from Monday to Friday. They are also closed on Saturday and Sunday and public holidays observed by the High Commission of India.]

  • Time of Submission – 9am to 2pm (Monday to Friday) at the India Visa Centres

  • Time of Collection – 4:30pm to 5:30pm on the third working day (if any change, the Visa Centre will inform the applicant)

  • Charges – The following charges are applicable to Malaysian passport holders only. For other nationals, different visa fees is applicable to different nationals. For more information on this, please click on the link revision of visa fees.
    • Tourist Visa: RM 168/-
    • Business Visa: (upto one year): RM 472/- (for Malaysians only)
    • Student Visa: (upto five years): RM 301/-.   
    • Entry Visa (upto six months): RM 320/- (upto one year: RM 472/-), above one year to five years – RM 776/-  
    • Employment Visa: RM 472/- (upto one year) (for Malaysians only).   
    • Conference Visa: RM 320/-  
    • Transfer of Visa: RM 35/-
    • Transit Visa: RM 92/-.
    • Processing fee for non-Malaysian Passport: RM 56/-

Supporting Documents:

(i) Tourist Visa: Tourist Visa is granted to a Foreigner who does not have a residence or occupation in India and whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sight-seeing, casual visit to meet friends and relatives.  No other activity is permissible on a Tourist Visa.  The Tourist Visa is non-extendable and non convertible.

Supporting documents: Two Passport size photographs with a white background, application form duly filled, original passport. 

(ii) Business Visa: The Business Visa is granted to a foreign national who wants to visit India to establish an industrial/business venture or to explore possibilities to set up industrial/business venture, wants to purchase/sell industrial products in India.  The applicant should be a person of assured financial standing and has the expertise in the field of the intended business.  It is not granted for petty trading.  For more information on Business visa click on the link http://mha.nic.in/pdfs/work_visa_faq.pdf

The Business Visa must be issued from the country of origin, or from the country of domicile of the foreigner, provided the period of permanent residence of that applicant in that particular country is for more than two years. Documents required for Business Visa: Local company letter and company registration, Invitation letter from India and the company registration along with forms, two photos, original Passport.

(iii) Student Visa: Bonafide letter from school/college, two photographs, application forms and original passport.

(iv) Entry Visa: Entry Visa is granted to person’s spouses and dependent family members of a foreign national coming to India on long term visas like Employment and Research etc.  It is also granted to Persons of Indian Origin, his/her spouse and dependent children subject to production of proof of the PIO status, marriage certificate(in respect of spouse) and birth certificate(in respect of children). Spouses of an OCI/PIO card holders and dependent children can also apply for Entry Visa subject to production of necessary proof.

Supporting documents: For those married to Indian nationals, Original Indian Passport of Spouse along with a photocopy, marriage certificate and photocopy. For children of either parent being an Indian passport holder, children’s birth certificate, one of the parents Indian passport original and photocopy.

(v) Employment Visa: The Employment visa is granted to foreigners desiring to come to India for the purpose of employment.  The applicant should be a skilled and qualified professional or person who is being engaged or appointed by a company, orgainisation, industry or undertaking, etc. in India on contract or employment basis at a senior level, skilled position such as technical expert, senior executive, or in a managerial position. The Employment Visa must be issued from the country of origin, or from the country of domicile of the foreigner, provided the period of permanent residence of that applicant in that particular country is for more than two years. Employment contract for the company in which they will be working, Indian company registration, academic certificate, two passport size photographs, application forms.

(vi) Transfer of Visa: The old Passport and the current passport

Transit Visa: To produce confirmed air ticket for onward journey.

(vii) Conference Visa: Letter of invitation from the organizer of the conference.

For non-Malaysians, Visa processing time will be five to seven working days, excluding day of submission.

  • Please note that visa fee and service fee are non-refundable.
  • Non-Malaysian Foreigners have to produce copy of Passport, including the Malaysian visa page along with the application.
  • For Entry Visa, Student Visa and Employment Visa, applicant is to approach the High Commission for interview/approval between 9:30am to 12 noon.

Revision of Visa Fess

(i) Tourist visa (multiple entry) valid for up to six months

(However in respect of Business visa, there will be different charges for 16 specified countries at the rates indicated in Table-I  and in respect of 17 different countries, Employment Visa charges will be as indicated at Table-II, on reciprocal basis )

(v)  Gratis Visa will be issued gratis to the nationals of Afghanistan, Argentina, Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of Korea, Jamaica, Maldives, Mauritius, South Africa and Uruguay.

(vii) Japanese nationals:  Fee of  RM 20 for transit visa and RM 46 for all other types of visa will be charged.
     
(viii) Russian and Romanian nationals:  Service charges of RM 168 and RM 41 will be charged from Russian and Romanian nationals respectively for all types of Indian visa.

(ix) US nationals: Visa fee for five year and 10 year validity Business visa will be RM 852 in addition to Visa application fee of RM 76 which is applicable to all types of visas.

Telex and postage charges

(x) When the applicant requests for return of passport by post to the applicant after fixing visa, a postal charge of RM 3 will be charged from the applicant.

(xi) Telex/fax charges of RM 40 will be charged from a non- resident (foreign) applicant for obtaining a clearance from the Indian Mission in the native country of t applicant.

Transfer of Visa

(xii) When an Indian visa fixed on an old passport is required to be transferred to a new one, a service fee of RM.35 will be charged.  This fee is not applicable to nationals of Afghanistan, Argentina, Bangladesh, DPR Korea, Jamaica, Maldives, Mauritius, South Africa, Uruguay, Nepal, Bhutan and Pakistan.

All the above mentioned charges include service provider fee of RM. 8 and additional levy of RM. 8.

NOTE

Any person seeking a visa to India for the purpose of entering into a surrogacy arrangement must ascertain beforehand whether the law of that country permits surrogacy and will provide appropriate travel documents to the child for accompanying the surrogate parents. Entering into surrogacy arrangement under any other visa not sought for surrogacy is punishable under the Indian law.
