The tenth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) 2012

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is (PBD) celebrated every year to mark the contribution of the Overseas Indian community in the development of India. PBD Conventions are organized by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs and have been held annually in various locations in India since 2003. PBD Conventions are meaningful and interactive events that address concerns of Overseas Indian Community and also publicize their contributions in various fields.

The tenth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention will be held in Jaipur from 7-9th January 2012. It is being organized by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs in partnership with the government of Rajasthan along with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the Convention on 8th January and Smt. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, President of India, will deliver the valedictory address on 9th January.

10th PBD Convention will have discussions related to issues such as health, education, youth and inclusive growth etc.

The 10th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD) will be held from 7-9 January 2012 at Birla Auditorium, Jaipur, Rajasthan which will be organized by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) in partnership with the Government of Rajasthan. It would provide the Diaspora an opportunity to understand the vibrant culture and potential of the State. The theme of PBD-2012 is “Global Indian-Inclusive Growth”.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will inaugurate this annual flagship event of the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs on January 8, and the President, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil will deliver the valedictory address on January 9 and confer the Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Awards for distinguished PIOs and NRIs. The Chief Guest of PBD-2012 will be the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.

Two pre-conference seminars on “Solar Energy- Investment’ and R&D” and “Social Entrepreneurship-Water” will also be organized during the event. Areas of focus are Consumer Goods, Education, Engineering, Entertainment, Fashion, Financial Services, Handicrafts, Investment, Technology and Tourism.

More than 1500 delegates are expected to participate in PBD-2012 from all over the world. PBD is a meaningful and interactive event that would address issues and concerns of the overseas Indian community effectively and bring Indian Diaspora on one forum. Event would be webcast online and summary of proceedings put out each day. The interactive website would provide an opportunity for the Diaspora to participate in the conference from any corner of the world.
