HomePress Releases › Request to employers in Malaysia to ensure safety, security and well being of their Indian employees

1. The High Commission has been receiving some complaints about treatment of Indian labourers working in Malaysia by local employers.    The High Commission had been working very closely with the Malaysian Ministry of Human Resources to try and address their grievances so that such abuses are curtailed and remedial action taken.  We thank the Government of Malaysia for their cooperation in this matter.

2. However, we are still getting information of cases of physical abuse and ill-treatment of Indian manpower in Malaysia.  In order to curb these practices which are also contrary to the laws and regulations of Malaysia, the Indian High Commission has decided that in cases where there is an evidence of abuse and ill-treatment, they will review the privileges extended to these employers.

3. We appeal to all employers to kindly cooperate with the Indian High Commission in ensuring the safety, security and well-being of all the Indian labourers employed by them in Malaysia.
