The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) is offering six scholarships to meritorious students from Malaysia, under ‘The General Cultural Scholarship Scheme’ (GCSS) for pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate degrees, or for pursuing research at Indian Universities during the commencement of the 2012-13 academic year. However, scholarships for medical studies for MBBS, BDS or for medical research leading to a Ph.D. degree are NOT offered under the GCSS. Candidates must pass an English Proficiency Test conducted by the High Commission of India, Kuala Lumpur. Priority will be given to students who have never studied in India before.
Use the ICCR Application Form to apply for the GCSS, which is available as a download at the end of this webpage. The GCSS Application Form can also be obtained from the Education Wing, High Commission of India, located at No. 2, Jalan Taman Duta, Off Jalan Duta, 50480 Kuala Lumpur, (Tel: 03 2093 3510 ext 410; Telefax: 03 2092 2339).
Academic Qualification: Candidates with 60% aggregate marks or equivalent grades in Higher Secondary (12th standard) or equivalent i.e. STPM, ‘A’ Levels, etc., as recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), are eligible to apply. The candidates must have studied the prescribed essential subjects at the qualifying examination level to pursue a particular course of study. Candidates applying for the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) course must have Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics in their school leaving certificate, which is mandatory for Engineering courses.
The candidates should meet the following selection criteria: (i) the candidate should be proficient in English, and (ii) should not have serious health problems.
Please also note that no airfare will be provided under this scheme. The scholarship provides for Living Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Thesis and Dissertation Expenses, and Study Tour expense, at rates prescribed by the ICCR.
